Founded in 1995, the Vancouver Island Chapter (VIC) is a group of multi-published and striving to be published romance writers in good standing with the national Romance Writers of America (RWA®). VIC members strive to hone our craft, share our knowledge, and support each other while writing memorable love stories.
On a MONTHLY basis, we hold workshops, alternating between Nanaimo and Victoria, where we:
- attend to business to ensure our chapter stays vibrant and healthy
- elect an executive board each year
- celebrate successes, both small and great
- critique each other during read and critique meets
- exchange tapes and books to better learn the craft of writing
- inspire each other to write our stories
- listen to speakers on the craft of writing
- network with published and striving to be published writers
- publish a newsletter with writing tips, member news, and chapter contact information
- share tips of the trade and craft that we've learned.
On a YEARLY basis, we have a:
-Valentine's Luncheon to honor our members' achievements
- promote an In-house Writing Contest - an editor or agent will read the winner's entry
- enjoy a Summer Picnic at a member’s home where business is eschewed in favour of some much deserved
fun and frolic
